If you have kids at home, noticing slime stuck on every other surface is not uncommon. There’s no doubt that it’s the most relaxing to play with it. But when it comes to removing it from the carpet fibers, it can leave you baffled.

However, it need not be a daunting task anymore when there are effective ways to get rid of slime from your carpet. Check out some DIY ones here.

3 Easy Steps to Get Sticky Slime out of your Carpet

1. A Gentle Scrape…

If the slime stuck on your carpet is fresh, grab a spoon or butter knife and gently scrape as much of it as you can. Remember not to push the slime into the fibers and pull it off gently.

⇒ Ice Cubes

One of the easiest ways to get it (especially the dried slime) out is to place some ice over the sticky slime. Keep it for 15-20 minutes and let it freeze. Once it thickens, it will be much easier to just scrape it off with a spoon and vacuum the area later.

You should be able to remove most of the slime solid by scraping itself. However, like removing other common carpet stains, it’s best to address the slime as soon as possible.

But if it’s stubborn and the remnants do remain after taking off the solids, you can proceed to clear them further.

2. Cleaning The Slime Stain

Now, there are a number of ways to deal with what you are left with after scraping. But, ensure that you test the below solutions first on a hidden carpet area and follow the carpet cleaning do’s and don’ts before using them.

⇒ Vinegar and Water Solution with Baking Soda

Take a bottle and pour in 2 parts of white vinegar and 1 part of water. Sprinkle baking soda onto the area. Then, spray this mixture over it. Give it some rest to work for 5-10 mins.

Once you see vinegar dissolving the slime remnants, scrub it with a brush and blot the stain with a white cloth. Keep soaking the area and repeating if needed. Once dried, you can vacuum the carpet.

⇒ Dish Soap and Water

Mix some dish soap with a cup of warm water and spray it on the stain. Let it absorb for around 5 minutes. Start cleaning the area with a scrub brush or sponge and blotting the stain by dabbing it with a fresh cloth. Lastly, dab it with just a water-dipped cloth to blot all the soapy residue and vacuum the spot when dried.

⇒ Rubbing Alcohol

Take â…“ portion of water mixed with â…” of rubbing alcohol to spray on the spot. You can directly pour the rubbing alcohol without diluting it over the slime stain. Let it soak for about 10 minutes and blot-clean the stain and dry.

3. Final Vacuuming

Once the stain is out, there may be some bits of slime lingering on the carpet. You can easily take them off by vacuuming them away. This will clear the space of any remaining traces and also fluff up any matted carpet fibers.
